Warning: The following starts out as a horror story. If you make it through to the end, the mystery will unravel and bright sun will break through all the dark clouds.
Most current writing and authorship guides have a common failing – they all push how wealthy you can become from writing without teaching you how.
It’s a form of scam. “Get Rich Quick” and all that.
They don’t tell you two facts:
- Most of the “filthy-rich” writers in their headlines spend 5 to 10 years mastering their craft and building a backlist of published titles before they ever hit the big time.
- Analysis of successful authors on Amazon finds that only .4 percent (yes, that’s four-tenths of one percent) actually make enough to live on from that platform.
The problem these “how-to” books have is that they don’t tell you about the hard work and study that is present before the “overnight success” finally arrives. Mostly, they are full of tricks and tips that are out of date within months or years.
That doesn’t mean it can’t be done. But wealth isn’t just money.
Any author who wants to be wealthy from his writing will have to work at it. There are no routes to instant success. For every report of someone achieving their “six-figure” income literally overnight, you can find years of work ahead of that. Always.
The good point is that the vast majority writers aren’t afraid of hard work. They are a persistent bunch. They listen to their muses and get more joy out of simply writing than they’ll ever get paid for.
If they study how successful writers make a living from writing, then they’ll be able to work out their own route to success.
And that is why you’re reading this.
You know that if you simply keep at it long enough, you’ll earn and achieve your own breakthrough. Because that is a truth that rings through the ages.
The successful persist. The failures quit.
By studies, 80% of everyone out there has a story in them they want to write. Only 1% do. And less than 1 percent of those ever get their story published.
You’d think in these days of practically no-cost self-publishing that more people would simply write and publish that nagging story within them that is scratching to get out.
The persistent do. Because it’s simple to figure out how, these days.
And publishing more after that first one is still very simple, and can be very remunerative for your small investment.
A few even become very wealthy as they then “rinse, repeat” their efforts.
This small book lays out the two stages of learning and practice that have to take place before your author-wealth will find you.
These are the points that the Get Rich Quick books never tell you.
Because I’ve been there, done that. And just want to share what I know.
Because you deserve to hear it.
